English Language Requirements

All applicants, whether local or international, for admission to any ANU program delivered either in Australia or overseas, must provide evidence that their English language ability meets the minimum requirements for admission.

In order to secure unconditional entry to the University, most applicants will need to supply a recognised English language certificate or qualification such as IELTS or TOEFL. The University's English language entry requirements from these qualifications are listed below.

Some applicants may be able to demonstrate English language competency and secure unconditional entry on the basis of other criteria.

For further information about these other criteria and whether they may apply to you, please view the full policy English Language Requirements for Students.

Please note, Australian Department of Immigration and Citizenship regulations require international students from select countries to provide specific English language test results for the purpose of a student visa application.
