Costs

Tuition Fees

You do not pay student tuition fees at your host institution while on Exchange. Local students (Australian and New Zealand citizens and Australian Permanent Residents) will incur the appropriate HECS liability for the courses studied while away and international students must pay their ANU tuition fees prior to departure.

Travel and living expenses

You are required to pay for your own travel and living expenses (including accommodation) while abroad. The International Education Office provides a small bursary to assist students nominated by ANU and accepted by their host universities for an Exchange. Student visas for some countries may allow you to work during the exchange, but advice should be sought directly from the relevant diplomatic mission in Australia. However, you should not plan to support yourself solely with income from part-time work while away.

Youth Allowance and Scholarships

If you are entitled to Youth Allowance in Australia you may be eligible to carry this with you while away. However, please check about this directly with Centrelink.

Faculty Assistance - Asian Studies

The Faculty of Asian Studies may be able to assist students participating in the Year-In-Asia program with some financial assistance. Please contact the Asian Studies Faculty for further information.
