ANU Social Welfare Workshop

Four of America’s leading Economics academics will present groundbreaking research papers today at the Australian National University (ANU) on various aspects of social welfare. The workshop, arranged in conjunction with the ANU’s Research School of Social Sciences, will feature Robert Haveman from the University of Wisconsin, Nancy Folbre from the University of Massachusetts, Timothy Smeeding from the University of Syracuse and David Soskice from ANU. Topics of discussion will include varieties of capitalism and the differences and similarities between the developed economies, the value of parental time and the new estimates of expenditures on children, and a look into the welfare state, social protection and the formation of skills.
