Thai Update 2002: A rapidly changing society

HE Sawanit Kongsiri, Ambassador of Thailand, will officially open the Thai Update 2002 at The Australian National University tomorrow at 8.45am.

The Thai Update 2002, will look at the current situation in Thailand with particular reference to the Thaksin Government.

Khun Suranand Vejjavija from the Thaksin Government and and Sukhumband Paribatr from the Opposition will speak at the Thai Update along with Dr John Funston, Professor Peter Warr and Professor Des Ball from the ANU.

Other presentations include: The current state of Thai politics; The Thai economy today; The current state of rural development; Is a culture of accountability developing in Thailand?; Security and Border Problems; The media and the Thaskin Government; and, Thai Australia relations.

All speakers are available for interview.
