First round offers: ANU courses become more accessible than ever
Hundreds of students
are expected to welcome the news of revised UAI cut-off marks at The Australian
National University this week, when over 1000 first offers, 100 more than
last year, are distributed on Friday.
The
applicants will mostly be ACT school leavers, who had expressed their
first preference for a program at ANU. Offers were also made to more than
75 international students who have completed Year 12 in Australia.
As part of Vice-Chancellor Professor Ian Chubbs plan to improve
access to the ANU, the University today announced the revised cut-offs
for entry into many of its undergraduate degree programs. The University
has changed the entry mark to 70 for most of its three-year, single-degree
programs.
Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor John Richards believes the new entry
marks will provide increased access to most ANU courses. This will
mean more students from the ACT and surrounding region will now be able
to consider The Australian National University for their studies,
Professor Richards said.
Professor Richards added that students from interstate, who were thinking
of studying at Australias national University, would also have increased
opportunities to pursue their academic career in the ACT.The ANU has offered
places to students with UAIs of 92 for Law, 86 for Actuarial Studies,
82 for Engineering, Photonics and Computational Science, 77 for specialist
Asian Studies programs, 73 for Medical Science and 70 for all other degrees
and these cut-offs will be maintained for the Main Round of offers in
mid-January.
Further information on undergraduate study opportunities at the ANU in
2002, can be obtained by ringing the enrolment hot line on 1800 620 032
during office hours.
Tours of the university campus can also be arranged for prospective students
and their families.
Details on how to change preferences for the Main Round by 7 January are
available in the UAC Guide and website: www.uac.edu.au.
