1000 students expected at ANU's Pre-Enrolment Day

Students from across the region will converge on The Australian National University today Monday 21 January, for the third ANU Pre-Enrolment Advice or PEA Day. The annual event is an opportunity for new students to familiarise themselves with the ANU campus, staff members and the enrolment process. Course advisers will be on hand to help new recruits plan their program of study at the university.

The ANU is the only University to hold an annual Pre-Enrolment Advice Day (PEA Day). "The results of poor choices at the enrolment stage are unhappy students, an increased possibility of failure rates in individual subjects, a higher HECS debt or dropping out of a course altogether," Director of Student Recruitment, Tim Beckett said.

"PEA day also helps to de-mystify the enrolment process and university administration. Some school leavers still haven't made up their minds and some have received UAI scores they didn't anticipate, so pre-enrolment advice can widen or narrow down the options to assist students with decision-making,"

"At PEA Day students can also formally accept their offers, talk about what their first year timetable will look like and get to know the campus."

Last year over 1,000 students and their families attended the successful day. "Many of us were curious about the subjects we could take, fees, accommodation and student services. PEA Day was a great opportunity to ask all of those nagging questions you have in your head," ANU Arts/Law student Natalie Weddell said.
