Increased school leaver study opportunities at ANU

More applicants, including school leavers, will have the opportunity to study at Australia’s national university in 2002 when ANU makes its first formal offers early in the New Year.

The increased opportunities follow a rise in the total number of potential students giving ANU as a study preference for 2002.

“We anticipate that we will be offering up to 10 per cent more places next year than this year,” Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor John Richards, said today.

Professor Richards said that, apart from professional programs such as Law, Actuarial Studies and Engineering, the minimum UAI for entry to many ANU courses is likely to be 70.

“We are pleased that preferences for our University are up, including from Victoria and from international fee-paying students who have sought entry through the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC) system,” he said.

Professor Richards said offers would be made in the first week of 2002 to ACT Year 12 students with a first preference for ANU and that others who had applied through UAC would receive offers in the “Main Round” on 18 January.

People who had already submitted an application through UAC had until Monday 7 January to change their course preferences for the Main Round through the UAC Infoline.
