Risk Management and Audit Office
Welcome to the Risk Management & Audit Office (RMAO) website.
The RMAO is responsible for the functional areas of risk management, audit and fraud.
Through broad consultation the key role and responsibilities of the RMAO include:
- Facilitating the development, ratification and adoption of a risk management policy and implementation plan;
- Developing the risk-based internal audit plan (assurance and performance) for approval by Council;
- Developing and maintaining an internal audit quality assurance program to ensure that internal audit improves and adds value to the ANU operations;
- Providing support and advice to the relevant ANU College Convenors and Heads of Administrative Divisions and Budget Units on risk management issues affecting their area, including the assessment of risk and the development of risk management plans and business continuity plans;
- Providing risk management reports to the Audit & Risk Management Committee to inform the internal audit program as approved by Council;
- Raising the profile of risk management within the University and ensure a culture of risk management is developed.
ANU Risk Portal
The ANU Risk Portal provides an entry point for staff and students to a range of information and tools to assist in the application of risk management principles with the following aims:
- To provide a single point of reference for risk management (a “one-stop shop”);
- Develop and communicate a common language and understanding of risk management;
- Improve the assessment, management and reporting of enterprise wide, operational and specialist risks;
- Assist the University to meet statutory and regulatory requirements;
- Assist Colleges and Administrative divisions to provide annual assurance to the ANU Council and Vice Chancellor on the status of the management of key risks.
