New Travel Grants
3. Support for travel for higher degree research students
The Vice-Chancellor has agreed to make available $500,000 per year in 2007, 2008 and 2009 to enable higher degree research students to undertake a period of study at an overseas institution. Field work is funded using a different scheme from both those outlined in here (3 and 3A).
Purpose of the program
The purpose of the program is to:
- enrich the quality of research undertaken by higher degree research students by enabling them to study for a period at an overseas institution
- enable higher degree research students to gain international research experience
- enable higher degree research students to develop relationships within the international research community.
Eligibility/conditions
Applicants will be enrolled in a higher research degree at ANU and be making good progress towards the completion of the degree at the time of application.
The period of time spent at the overseas institution will count as part of the period of candidature for the degree in which the applicant is enrolled at ANU.
Applicants must have completed one year (full-time) or equivalent of their candidature.
Preference may be given to applicants proposing to spend their period of overseas research at one of the IARU partners.
Funding is provided under this program on the basis that it is in addition to existing funding programs. Any area of the University reducing its current support for travel for higher degree research students will be ineligible to seek funding under this program for a period of 12 months.
