Rugby World Cup comes to ANU

The larger-than-life drama and excitement of the Rugby World Cup is coming to ANU.

The University’s Rugby Union Club has been chosen to host a massive nine metre wide by five metre high screen for the opening ceremony and first game of the international competition, when the Wallabies will take on Argentina.

The fun will kick off in the afternoon on Friday 10 October at the Willows Oval, with coaching for schoolchildren, before the screen is fired up at 5.30pm for a replay of the last Rugby World Cup Final, followed by this year’s opening ceremony.

In addition to the rugby there will be face painting and a jumping castle for children and food stalls. A bar will also operate for adults.

The big screen is coming to the University as part of the Telstra Front Row promotion, which is bringing the experience of world-class stadium rugby to venues across the Australian Capital Territory, New South Wales and Queensland.

BYO alcohol and glass will not be permitted at the event.
