APRU Undergraduate Summer Program


What is APRU?

APRU is a consortium of 42 leading research universities in the Pacific Rim. The consortium aims to foster education, research and enterprise thereby contributing to the economic, scientific and cultural advancement in the Pacific Rim.

 

What is the APRU Undergraduate Summer Program?

This program is an initiative aimed at enhancing student involvement and mobility among member universities. It is a short-term and integrated study-abroad program based on themes which are unique to the host economy and serves to enhance the education experience of students from APRU member universities.

In 2009, National University of Singapore will host the 4th APRU Undergraduate Summer Program, centred on the theme Rising to the Challenge – Global Leadership in the 21st Century.  The Program will run for a period of two weeks, 13-24 July.  See  http://www.nus.edu.sg/iro/apru/ for a full outline of the Program.

 

Who will ANU be sending?

ANU will nominate up to two undergraduate students for the Program.

As NUS is an IARU partner university, the nominated students will be eligible to receive an ANU-IARU Travel Grant, which will provide reimbursement for return economy airfare to Singapore, up to a maximum of $2,000.

Each participant will be required to pay the program registration fee (US$195) and any other expenses incurred during the Program.

 

How to apply

Interested undergraduate students must submit a CV (maximum 2 pages) and an essay (up to 400-words) answering the following questions:


1.  What makes you a leader at ANU?

2.  What skills, experience, knowledge and personal attributes do you possess that will enable you to contribute significantly to the Program?

3.  What do you hope to bring back to ANU from the Program?

Please include your ANU Student ID so that we may verify your identity, enrolment status and academic transcript.


All application documents must be submitted in MS Word or PDF format via email to apru.info@anu.edu.au before 9:00am, Tuesday 14 April AEST.
