Provides policy leadership and oversight of strategic initiatives to deliver high-quality research and education outcomes

 

Provides policy leadership and oversight in linking the quality and standards agenda across research and education, including strategic initiatives to enhance research and graduate education outcomes

 

Provides policy leadership and oversight of strategic initiatives that enhance standards of student learning and improve the quality of the student experience

 

Provides policy leadership and oversight of strategic initiatives to build growth in research and education outcomes through strategic partnerships with the external community

 

Provides policy leadership and oversight of strategic initiatives to develop the University's global information infrastructure and partnerships

 

Provides leadership to Service Divisions and brings a support services perspective to strategic discussions and decision-making


Key roles

Ensure effective policy engagement in the University Research and Education Committees, including strategies for quality and standards

Develop strategies in research information, infrastructure and research integrity

Enhance quality and standards in undergraduate education, including innovation in program development and delivery

Advance the international education strategy and off-shore bilateral alliances

Oversight of academic promotions; policy leadership that supports high quality promotions outcomes

 


Key roles

Coordinate overall planning of research priorities and develop growth strategies, including development of the IAS; recruitment and support of increased numbers of HDR candidates and postgraduate coursework students; and competitive research funding strategies to maximise opportunities for the University and improve external grant performance

Develop quality and performance standards and initiatives that improve outcomes in sponsored research, research career development, higher degree research and postgraduate coursework education

Enhance HDR student development and academic opportunities, including innovative approaches to research training

 

 


Key roles

Enhance all aspects of student life and promote quality and standards in teaching and learning

Provide senior leadership of Halls and Residences and coordinate teaching enhancement programs and projects with CEDAM

Develop internships and work-integrated learning strategies

Ensure high-quality student access and equity policies and procedures, including effective interaction with Student Associations and student representatives

Enhance pathways to ANU education and collaborations with other education sectors

Implement and evaluate the National Access Alliances Strategy

Monitor best practice developments in the Australian Learning and Teaching Council

 


Key roles

Oversight policy in relation to commercialisation, intellectual property management, development funding, industry engagement, international commercial partnerships and collaborations, and business liaison

Coordinate innovation and advancement strategies to ensure that the ANU brand is managed to realise its full potential

Develop strategies for institutional positioning and fundraising

Oversight of strategic plans to engage the ANU community (internal and external) in the ANU advancement function, including growth in philanthropic support

Oversight the University's US engagement , develop research alliances with key US universities, and identify US funding opportunities

 


Key roles

Improve ANU connectedness in the emerging global knowledge economy; position the University within national and global information infrastructures

Develop ANU e-research and e-education strategies in support of College plans

Develop e-partnerships and alliances that enhance ANU performance

Leadership in national research infrastructure, data and networking developments, including oversight of the High Performance Computing (HPC) project

Develop strategic opportunities focussed on HPC capacity

Leadership in the G08 Digital Futures Group

Creation of an ANU-CSIRO partnership for a national e-research centre


Key roles

Ensure that administration and planning polices, processes and systems are aligned to facilitate the achievement of University objectives

Coordinate the overall budget, resources allocation and planning processes to ensure the optimal use of University resources

Ensure that the University has appropriate infrastructure to support its research, education and community engagement objectives

Develop the strategic direction of Service Divisions and ensure that appropriate plans are in place to support the strategic objectives of the University
