The reputation of ANU for research excellence continues to be recognised with the Australian Research Council (ARC) awarding more than $43 million in grants to the University this month.
The ARC announced 113 new Discovery Projects worth $36.1 million, 13 Linkage Projects worth $3.7 million and eight Linkage Infrastructure, Equipment and Facilities grants worth $3.3 million for ANU researchers.
ANU Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ian Chubb, said it was “a great day for ANU that confirmed its tradition of world-class research.
"It is a university of which the nation can be proud. ANU has performed extremely well in this funding round, with over 130 grants to support new and ongoing research into important areas of national interest,” Professor Chubb said.
“This $43 million in funding will continue to consolidate our research focus at ANU and enable us to continue to strive for excellence. I congratulate the researchers who received grants and look forward to the fruits of the research projects.”
ANU attracted 11 per cent of the total funding, the second highest, with the University of Sydney receiving 11.6 per cent.
In terms of the amount awarded in Discovery Grants per FTE academic staff, ANU had the highest amount nationally at $27,000 for each individual.
The University also had the highest success rate for Linkage Grants applications.
