Infrastructure projects funded

ANU received more than $3.3 million in the latest ARC round to oversee a range of infrastructure projects.

• National Nanolithography Facility, which will enable nanotechnology research with potential implications for computing, communications, defence, health, and biosecurity

• A Plant Phenomics and Analysis Facility to better assess the characteristics and performance of new plant variations at the same speed that genetic technology creates novel forms

• A mass spectrometer to analyse changes in recent and ancient environments, with a view to predict and plan for the future of the nation’s natural assets

• A near-infrared spectrometer for ecological research to study the composition
of biological matter with less waste
and duplication

• A project to improve access to online Australian biographical information
for researchers

• New instruments to gain a better understanding of the Australian
continent in 3D

• An ambitious project to consolidate astronomical data online in the Australian Virtual Observatory

• An Advanced Computer Tomography Facility, which will allow the characterisation of complex materials in 3D
