Prospective students will better understand the level of mathematics required for tertiary study thanks to a workshop at the School of Economics.
Senior-year high school mathematics teachers from the ACT, New South Wales and Victoria recently attended a two-day workshop on mathematical applications in economics and finance, which was hosted by the ANU College of Business & Economics, with support from the ANU Mathematical Science Institute and the Australian Association of Mathematics Teachers.
The workshop provided up-to-date information in some quantitative applications in modern economics and finance, and allowed participants to build networks with other teachers and ANU academic staff.
“ANU has a lot of expertise in mathematics and the information gained from the workshop has given teachers valuable insights into the level of maths that will be expected of students when they enrol in economics and business degrees,” Victorian participant Alex Joseph said.
