PhD research shared across the Pacific

Four ANU PhD students from different disciplines recently took part in the 8th Annual Association of Pacific Rim Universities Doctoral Students Conference (at Keio University in Japan). The conference is a student-run program at which PhD candidates from all disciplines have the opportunity to present papers related to their doctoral research.

Ahmed Imran, Elizabeth Jill Miller, Septiana Dwiputrianti and Changbin Brad Yu represented ANU at the 2007 conference which was run under the theme of The Emerging Future of the Pacific Rim: Alliances, Collaboration, and Networking. The group hoped to deepen their interests and share experiences through discussion with international colleagues and to build lifelong friendships among fellow PhD students.

ANU is a member of the Association of Pacific Rim Universities along with 37 leading universities in the Pacific Rim. The Doctorial Students Network (DSN) is designed to nurture and support doctoral students in their professional aspirations in academia. It enhances the international experience of doctoral students by providing network opportunities and a supportive venue for constructive peer critique of ongoing research efforts.
