at ANU and live at Burgman College. The national scholarships

the UK. The annual program is described by its trustees as the
most generous privately funded scholarship program for university
students in Australia. Established in 1991, the Hawker scholarships
reward ‘academically capable students of principle and
character, who are committed to Australia’s future’.
The ANU recipients were Rose Bollard, Ellen Chapple, Leah Ginnivan,
Ashoor Khan, Patrick Mayoh, Gemma Nourse, and Nicholas Vreugdenhil.

The
Canadian Diva Effect
What do Celine Dion, Shania Twain and Avril Lavigne have in
common? They’re all female. They’ve all made their
names and fortunes as pop singers. They’re all Canadian.
And according to Professor Martin Richardson, they’re
prime examples of what’s problematic about imposing cultural
quotas on broadcasters. >>

New ANU ad campaign launched
The latest ANU brand advertising campaign has just been rolled
out in national and international media. The Marketing and Communications
Division (MAC) conducted qualitative market research in November
2006 to test proposed creative executions. The feedback from
focus groups in Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra helped shape
the final campaign, which targets key decision makers, postgraduates,
undergraduates and those people likely to influence enrolment
decisions. The suite of ads received positive feedback from
University marketing and outreach workers at recent marketing
meetings. One highlight is the ANU musical theme – composed
by Dr Ruth Lee Martin from the School of Music for the University
– which is being used in the broadcast ads. The brand
campaign will be augmented by a targeted mid-year enrolment
campaign. For more information about advertising at ANU, contact
Advertising Manager
Ashley Zmijewski. View the latest campaign ads on the MAC
website.
