| Interest in the new Jackie Chan Science Centre at JCSMR has been strong since the martial arts star and the Prime Minister opened the exhibition.
There have been inquiries from schools and other tour groups about visiting the centre in the foyer of the new JCSMR building, which is designed to educate young people about research at the medical research school.
Jackie Chan and Prime Minister Kevin Rudd were on campus on Sunday 9 March to open the educational display, which was made possible by a generous donation from Mr Chan in 2006.
"He's a really lovely person, he's very generous, and he's very committed to young people, which was why we thought his was the name to give to our new exhibition," said JCSMR Director Professor Judith Whitworth, describing Jackie.
It wasn't the first time that the movie star had shown his support for JCSMR. In 2002 he made a donation towards cancer research in honour of his mother and long-time Canberra resident Ms Lee Lee Chan.
Initially consisting of a number of descriptive panels and windows into working laboratories, the Jackie Chan Science Centre will continue to develop as a place of discovery for budding researchers.
