Celebrating ANU women

A new online book marking International Women's Day celebrates the diversity of experience of women at ANU

Nine ANU women from all walks of life share their stories and insights in ANU Women: Talented and Diverse, produced by Equity@ANU. The book was produced to mark International Women's Day, which has been observed since the early 1900s.

Professor Mandy Thomas, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Research) said ANU employs many outstanding women in diverse occupations, women from very different cultural backgrounds with many different career paths and different personal trajectories.

"It continually surprises me that every week in my job I meet yet another remarkable woman from somewhere on campus. Building on our equity achievements in the past I am committed to ensuring that we fully utilise the skills and capacities of all these women and make ANU an even more attractive employer for them and on others wishing to work here." The book can be viewed here.

The 12th Annual Pamela Denoon Lecture was also held in the run up to IWD. You can listen to Professor Marian Sawer examine what sparked the women's action in the 1970's and Roslyn Dundas predict what the future holds for feminism here.
