Solar energy research at ANU got a power-up last Wednesday with a $25,000 donation from ActewAGL and Fieldforce.

The donation, accepted by Deputy Vice-Chancellor Lawrence Cram on behalf of the University, was raised through ActewAGL and Fieldforce’s Enviro Saver program. Under the program, free energy and water assessments were offered to the region’s homes and businesses, including the supply of water-saving shower heads and energy-efficient bulbs.  For each installation throughout last year, the companies donated $2.

The donation will go to the University’s Solar Energy Endowment Fund for Environmental Research.

On hand to pass on the giant cheque at the Ian Ross Building were ActewAGL Chief Executive Officer John Mackay and Fieldforce Managing Director Craig Bathie.
“We’re extremely proud to donate this money to a cause as worthy as solar energy research,” said John.

“One of our main priorities at ActewAGL is to help people save energy and water, both precious resources, and the Enviro save program has been an important initiative in achieving this.”

Craig added that since the beginning of the program in 2007 more than 12,000 home instillations had taken place.
