ANUTECH Literary Prizes

The ANU Reporter and ANUTECH, the commercial wing of the university, are again combining to hold the annual ANUTECH Literary Prizes.

The ANUTECH Prizes for short stories and poetry are established as very important literary competitions, with hundreds of writers competing for valuable rewards. Prizes of Apple Macintosh computer hardware and software will be awarded to the winning short story writer and the winning poet. Each computer package is valued at $2,500 and is provided by The Australian National University's commercial wing, ANUTECH Pty Ltd.

All short story writers and poets - amateur and established - are invited to enter. Entries are encouraged from anywhere in Australia and overseas. There are no restrictions on the subject matter. The only restrictions are, for short story writers, that the entries be no more than 1,800 words, and for poets, that their entries be 25 lines or less. Also, there is a strict limit of one entry per competition per person. Resubmissions from previous years of the competition are not acceptable.

Finalists' entries will be published in the ANU Reporter during the year and the winners will be announced in the last issue of the year, on December 9. The finalists' entries printed in the ANU Reporter will not carry the names of the writers, because of the judges' request for anonymity of entrants. A full list of finalists will be published in the November 11 issue of the ANU Reporter.

Full details of entry conditions and last year's finalists and winning entries are available on the ANU Reporter's Web site at: anutech/anutech.html
