Arts fair features 100 exhibitorsThe third Contemporary Art Fair (CAF), featuring the work of more than 100 Australian contemporary artists opens at the ANU's Drill Hall Gallery next month. It is the only one of its kind in Australia hosted by a university gallery. The biennial event, first staged in 1993, coincides with the capital's popular spring festival, Floriade, and will attract not only a regional audience but also national and international visitors. It brings together Beaver Galleries, Chapman Gallery, Solander Gallery, Australian Girl's Own Gallery, the National Gallery Shop, ANU Co-op Bookshop, Artlink and Art Monthlyin one venue at the Australian National University's Drill Hall Gallery. "The artwork will fill every available space in the Drill Hall Gallery to create a lively spectacle showcasing the latest trends in contemporary art," director, Nancy Sever, said. Visitors will see works by leading artists including Robert Boynes, Klaus Moje, Thornton Walker, Les Blakebrough, Emily Kngwarreye, Rover Thomas, Ronnie Tjampitjinpa, Mick Kubarrku, Mandy Martin, Garry Shead, Robert Juniper, Bruno Leti, Sue Lovegrove, Judy Watson, Robin White, Judy Horacek and Anna Eggert. The 10-day fair opens on Thursday, October 9. Admission is free. | |
