ANU marketing success storiesCommercial successes ANUTECH and ANU have achieved over the past three years include: * innovative early glaucoma detection technology developed in the Centre for Visual Sciences and recently launched on the US market (shortly to be marketed in Australia); * R&D on anti-cancer pharmaceuticals emerging from the John Curtin School of Medical Research - agreement with Progen, an Australian biotechnology company; * management of a wide range of consultancies undertaken by ANU staff for the government and private sectors, including a survey of Coral Sea populations of Red-legged Boobies, a study of vehicle emissions, a report on the disposal of hazardous hexachlorobenzene waste, an investigation of the prospects for sale of Australian dairy products in China, efficacy studies of new veterinary treatments, and development of model systems for an Australian mining company; * sheep drench licensed to Young's Animal Health, an Australian company; * R&D agreement with Enya Systems Limited, Japan, to commercialise helicon plasma technology from the Research School of Physical Sciences and Engineering; * Eastern Indonesia Islands Economic Study - six-month consultancy on behalf of AusAID; * courses and/or study tours for professionals including government officials and university staff from throughout the Asia Pacific region, Africa, and the Middle East, including human resource development, forestry, project planning and management, sustainable development, intellectual property commercialisation, and, in conjunction with the MBA Program, a suite of courses on public sector economic policy and planning; * in conjunction with the National Centre for Development Studies (NCDS), an on-going contract for provision of consultancy expertise, chiefly in development and economic issues concerning Papua New Guinea and Pacific Island nations; * four-year, $10 million Papua New Guinea Human Resource Development Project for AusAID, in a consortium with the ANU Forestry Department and other university and government bodies. | |
