Harvard meeting draws ANU trio
The ANU was well represented at The Harvard Australian Symposium held last week in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Speakers in the session on archaeology and anthropology are pictured above: from left to right, ANU Professor Rhys Jones and Prof John Mulvaney with Les Hiatt of the Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies. Prof Jones delivered a paper entitled "Talgai and Folsom: Cowboy Archaeology in Two Hemispheres"; Prof Mulvaney spoke on "The Frontier and Anthropology: Reflections on the Australian and American Experience"; and Les Hiatt addressed a controversial American book in his talk entitled "Mutant Message Down Under: A New Age for an Old People." |
