The appointment of six external members of Council has been approved by the Education Minister Dr Brendan Nelson MP, in line with amendments to the ANU Act.
Group Executive, People and Performance, at Westpac Banking Corporation, Ms Ilana Atlas has been appointed to a four-year term.
Mr Michael Delaney, a member of Council since 1998 and Executive Director of the Motor Trades Association of Australia and the Australian Automobile Dealers Association, and Dr Vincent Fitzgerald, Co-Chair of the Allen Consulting Group have also been appointed
for four years.
Independent producer, director and writer Ms Robin Hughes, who has worked as a producer for the BBC, ABC and commercial television, has been appointed for a two-year term.
Secretary General of the Australian Red Cross since 2001, Ms Martine Letts will serve a two-year term.
Mr Fulton Muir, who has had a long and varied career in the banking sector and has been on Council since 1993, will also serve a two-year term.
The Chancellor, Vice-Chancellor and representatives of ANU staff and students occupy the remaining places on the 15 member Council.
