Excellence in research and the learning environment such research-richness creates are elements that set ANU apart. As the New Year begins, the University is gearing up to link research and teaching even closer together with the establishment of Colleges that will enhance the University’s distinctive standing as an education-intensive research institute.
From January 1, the Faculties, Research Schools and Centres will be integrated into seven Colleges: ANU College of Arts and Social Sciences, ANU College of Asia and Pacific Studies, ANU College of Business and Economics, ANU College of Engineering and Computer Science, ANU College of Law, ANU College of Medicine and Health Sciences, and ANU College of Science. The full implementation of the college system will be complete by January 1, 2007.
The process of establishing the ANU Colleges began early in 2005 with extensive consultation with staff following recommendations from the 2004 external review of the quality of research and education at ANU: ANU - university with a difference.
That review identified the “powerful ethos of research enquiry” that permeates the University as a source of strength. The new structure will promote and formalise cooperation and stand as testament to our commitment to teaching what we research.
