Arranged upon request for individual Areas.

This information session is for one hour and covers:

  • legislative framework for OHS and workers compensation
  • Supervisor's Responsibilities, and rights
  • ANU model and procedures: Injury Reporting, Early Intervention, Rehabilitation, Comcare and Workers' compensation, University Policies and Practices
  • performance data for area (where available).

COST: $80 internal to ANU; $250 external

Occupational Strains Liaison Officer (OSLO) Training

Educates participants on the identification and prevention of Overuse injury.

The course includes practical information on ergonomic workstation set up and principles for safe computer use. This is a specific course for staff nominating to the OSLO role.

Training course runs over two half days, 9:30am - 12:30pm. Dates can be viewed through ANUBIS

RACLO Training

This half day training is for

  • newly nominated Rehabilitation and Compensation Liaison Officers (RACLOs)
  • any RACLO wanting an update on the Worker's compensation process within the ANU

Managing Risk for Manual Handling

Courses aim to develop:

  • participants knowledge of the risk management approach to manual handling
  • awareness of injury prevention and techniques for management
  • manual handling hazard identification skills
  • manual handling techniques for a range of conditions (based on the participants work area needs).

Courses requested by work groups can be tailored to meet an area's specific manual handling needs.

Cost: $80pp internal to ANU; $250 external

Work Area Specific Manual Handling

Manual Handling training is offered to "at risk" areas for groups between 10-15 in number.

This training usually includes:

  • an on-site audit of the work environment
  • a 2 30 minute educational and practical training session.
  • Individual follow-up with participants in the work area is also offered

The outcome for the work area will be:

  • detailed information on the work environment and risk management strategies
  • staff with skills for improved manual handling within a work group duties and environment.

This is a supplement to the general manual handling training courses.

Healthy Ergonomics and Computer Use Seminar

When requested by an area for groups of 10 or more , an on-site seminar for staff/ PhD students provides:

  • basic knowledge of ergonomic workstation set up and
  • design and implementing healthy work practices
