Participants should have completed the Chemical Safety course. This extension course for Corrosives covers the properties, dangers, storage and handling requirements associated with corrosive materials (acids and alkalis). Practical exercises and discussions are given on the common corrosives used in laboratories. The particular hazards of hydrofluoric acid and relevant spill control techniques are also discussed.
