Vice Chancellor's Award for Career Achievement  

Purpose

To encourage, promote and recognise the outstanding career achievement and professional development of staff while at the University during a service period of not less than 5 years.

The Career Achievement Award recognises the outstanding work performance and professional career development of University staff. The Award acknowledges the value the University places on the skill, knowledge, expertise and work performance of academic and general staff, as well as future career potential and commitment to the University.

Nature

A commemorative plaque and $1,000. Up to five awards may be made in any given year.

Eligibility

All staff members who have worked at the University for at least five years as of 31 December in the year of application are eligible for this Award. Candidates will need the support of a sponsor, that is, a supervisor or other person within the University who will prepare the Supporting Statement.

Criteria

Nominations will be assessed on the basis of written evidence that supports claims against each of the following criteria:

  • Outstanding career path and achievement while at the ANU over at least five years;
  • Demonstrated commitment to professional development training programs that have improved skills, knowledge and expertise relevant to their career path;
  • Consistently outstanding work performance; and
  • Demonstrated commitment to career goals.

Nomination Process

Documentation submitted with the nomination must include:

  • Completed ANU Awards Nomination form (pdf document);
  • Sponsor's written statement (of no more than two pages) supporting the nomination; and
  • Endorsement of a College Dean/Director or Senior Executive of the University.

ANU Awards Ceremony - 2009


This Ceremony is an opportunity for the University to recognise the contribution and achievement of many of its staff. 

Staff who have reached the 25 and 40 year milestones and staff who have been awarded the Vice-Chancellor's Awards for achievement, service and contribution to the University, will be recognised at this event.

It will be an occasion to celebrate the role of all staff in making The Australian National University one of the best universities in the world.

The Chancellor and Vice-Chancellor warmly invite all staff to attend.
