Q. What is the date that I move to the new pay rate? A. The EBA provided a 4.5% pay increase from 27 November, 2008. From 5 March 2009 a new salary structure (complete with transitional arrangements for existing staff) became effective. Some staff will receive an increase on 5 March but most will move to the new structure after the 5 March 2009 on their Anniversary date. Q. What does anniversary date mean?
A. For most staff it is the anniversary of their current appointment, increment anniversary or promotion/re-classification (even if it is historical)
Q. "Historical" - What is that?A. Staff who have been at the top of a scale still have an anniversary date even if it has not been relevant for several years.
Q. I was on ANU 4; Step 3 does that anniversary date apply to me too to progress to Step 4?A. Yes. On your historical anniversary after 5 March 2009.
Q. And for me on top of the ANU 9 (IT, engineering, Technical, Library), when do I move to the new broad banded Senior Manager 1 level to?A. On your historical anniversary after 5 March 2009.
Q. Now that it is after 5 March, if I get an appointment or promotion, do I go to the new salary structure or do I still access the translation arrangements? A. You go to the new salary structure with your date of promotion becoming your new "anniversary" date.
Q. I am a fixed term appointee. Do I automatically become continuing (contingent) if my contract is renewed or extended? A. If in an externally (i.e. contingent) funded position of 12 months or more and it is a second consecutive contract to the same position.
Q. I was employed under a fixed term contract under the previous Enterprise Agreement, but the category I was employed under doesn't appear to be there any more. What happens to me?A. All new contracts, including requests for extensions must fit within the provisions of the new Enterprise Agreement. Unless you are employed under Graduate Recruitment and Development Program, that means Casual, Fixed Term (using the options now available), Continuing (Contingent funded), Continuing or Senior Management employment.
Q. If I have questions about the EB what should I do?A. The EB is a public document designed to be comprehensive. First off, see if you can identify the issue you need resolved in the EB itself - it's on the ANU website at: http://info.anu.edu.au/hr/Salaries_and_Conditions/Enterprise_Agreement/2005-2009 In addition, most ANU staff have access to a College or Divisional HR practitioner who can assist with advice or interpretation. In cases that are more difficult, local HR practitioners will check with HR Division staff and get back as quickly as possible to resolve any outstanding issues
