S4.3 Long Service Leave (LSL)
S4.3.1 LSL entitlements are set out in the table below:

At least six months notice will normally be given for the taking of LSL at the staff member’s choosing, otherwise subject to operational requirements

S4.3.2 The minimum period of LSL that may be taken is 2 weeks, except in special circumstances, by agreement between the staff member, the supervisor and the Director, Human Resources.
S4.3.3 A staff member may apply for payment in lieu of that part of the accrual which is in excess of 13 weeks provided that payment is in association with either the taking of a minimum of 4 weeks annual leave or LSL, or to assist in a career objective requiring absence from the University in excess of 3 weeks.
S4.3.4 Where a staff member receives a long service allowance and/or higher duties allowance for at least 12 months, the LSL entitlement or payment in lieu of LSL will include such allowances in force at the date of commencement of LSL or date of payment.
S4.3.5 Where a staff member has accrued more than 19.5 weeks LSL, on 12 months notice by the University a staff member may be directed to take up to 13 weeks LSL at a time convenient to the University, except where the staff member has given written notice that they intend to retire within two years.
S4.3.6 On termination, payment of LSL entitlement will be in accordance with clause 53.
