Part Three - Employment Conditions

19. Superannuation

19.1  The University will maintain employer superannuation contributions to the Commonwealth Superannuation Scheme (CSS) and the Public Service Superannuation Scheme (PSS) for all eligible current staff and to UniSuper for all current and new staff, in accordance with this clause.

19.2  Notwithstanding changes to any industrial instrument or the Unisuper Trust Deed, and/or the Deed of Covenant between UniSuper and the University, the University will pay 17% of salary to UniSuper for all eligible staff, (including part-time staff appointed for 12 months or more) who are not current members of CSS or PSS.

19.3  The University will maintain existing arrangements with UniSuper for current and new staff members who are not eligible for a 17% UniSuper employer superannuation contribution or who opt for half employee and employer contributions.  This will include the payment of the Superannuation Guarantee component, of any amount, which will be paid to UniSuper.

19.4  Should any amendment to the UniSuper Trust Deed, CSS, or PSS make it possible during the life of this Agreement for employer (in the case of UniSuper) or employee members to reduce their contributions, the University will consider allowing individual staff members the flexibility (at their initiation) to receive part of that employer contribution as additional salary, and/or to reduce the employee contribution. The University will ensure that it maintains adequate employer provision for those staff who are members of CSS and PSS.
