The Varied Australian National University Enterprise Agreement 2005-2008

Part Three - Employment Conditions

Remuneration

In addition to the following clauses, the University has a number of remuneration-related policies in order to compete with market forces to attract and retain staff, and to recognise and reward exceptional performance, including productivity improvement.

17. Salaries and Allowances

17.1  Salaries will be paid fortnightly. Overtime, allowances and special loadings will be paid in accordance with Schedule 3.

17.2  The University will continue to apply existing District Allowance and Leave Fares Assistance arrangements for staff of NARU, Warramunga Seismic Array and Siding Spring Observatory, including the indexation of these payments.

17.3 Salary increases
17.3.1  The salary rates set out in Schedule 2 include the following percentage increases:

Increase Date of effect
6% 17 November 2005
6% 16 November 2006
2% 15 November 2007

17.3.2  In addition to the 2% salary increase due in November 2007, the University will review its capacity to provide an additional increase at that time.  Any additional payment will be made following a financial assessment and will have regard for the University’s capacity to pay, market competitiveness of salaries, and growth in revenue, especially from sources that give rise to discretionary (untied) income.

17.4 Casual staff salaries
17.4.1  A casual general staff member will be employed by the hour and paid an hourly rate, being the hourly rate derived from the annual salary (normally the base of the range) applicable to the appropriate ANU Officer level plus the casual loading referred to in 17.4.3.

17.4.2  A casual/sessional academic staff member will be paid at the rates set out in S2.3 (which include the casual loading).

17.4.3  A casual staff member will be paid a casual loading in lieu of all paid leave entitlements (including long service leave), penalties and loadings, unless otherwise specified in this Agreement.  The casual loading will be 23%.

17.4.4  A casual staff member will be paid within 22 days of submitting a valid and completed claim for payment.
