The Varied Australian National University Enterprise Agreement 2005-2008
Part Two - Employment
16. Delegations and Supervisors
16.1 The following delegations in this Agreement are the nominated authorities from the Vice-Chancellor. This does not prevent the Vice-Chancellor's intervention at his or her discretion, with respect to the application of this Agreement.
16.1.1 ‘Supervisor’ means the nominated person who provides direction to the staff member on behalf of the University.
16.1.2 ‘Delegate’ means the Director, Dean, Head of Department or Centre or equivalent in the work area who has responsibility for staffing matters in the work area, and may include any officer carrying delegation under the appropriate policy.
16.1.3 ‘Deputy Vice-Chancellor’ means a Deputy Vice-Chancellor, or other person recognised by the Vice-Chancellor as holding an equivalent position.
16.2 Supervisors
Each staff member will have a nominated supervisor and will be advised in writing of the position of that person. The supervisor of an academic staff member will normally be the head of the academic unit in which the staff member is employed, and University policy will prescribe how alternative supervisors (at least at Level C or above) for academic staff can be appointed. The University will provide appropriate training for supervisors.
