In November 2003, the ANU Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Employment Strategy was launched by Senator Aden Ridgeway at University House.  This followed recommendations to the Vice Chancellor in September 2002 by the Working Party Report of the investigation into the Indigenous employment situation at the ANU.

The Varied ANU Enterprise Agreement 2005- 2008 Clause 8 Indigenous Employment, outlines the objectives of the strategy. This includes the target of 2.2% of the total University workforce Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people by 31 December 2012.  This is approximately 68 FTE Indigenous employees in positions in all areas of the University.

Acknowledgement of Land

In the spirit of reconciliation, the Australian National University recognises that it is situated on country for which the Ngunnawal people have been custodians for many centuries, and on which they have performed age-old ceremonies of celebration, initiation and renewal.

We acknowledge their living culture and unique role in the life of this region and offer our deep appreciation for their contribution and support of our academic enterprise.
