Hazardous Waste Safety Officers

The Australian National University has developed an infrastructure of expertise for the responsible and competent disposal of hazardous waste materials over many decades. It is likely that the answer to any particular hazardous waste problem will already be available in the local School or Department that generated the waste.

Hazardous Waste Safety Officers, with specialised knowledge of chemical, biological and radiation materials and their safe disposal, have been appointed in many Research Schools and Budget Units.

Hazardous waste disposal problems that cannot be effectively solved by Budget Unit expertise or by consultation with other Budget Units should be directed to the OHS Branch for the attention of the Hazardous Waste Safety Committee.
