AIDS and the Workplace5. (1989):A booklet is available from the OHS Unit from Worksafe Australia is directed at the low-risk workplace and provides both managers and workers with, a) basic information on the transmission of the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV); and b) guidelines for dealing with issues about HIV transmission and the acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS) which might arise in the workplace. The University is considered a generally low-risk workplace with respect to the occupational transmission of HIV. The use of human body fluids in the teaching and research programs of the University is quite limited and is professionally-controlled. References to relevant literature on higher-risk workplace practices is given in the booklet. The booklet is recommended for you consideration and for the widest possible distribution to staff and students.
