The casual employee will be paid by the hour for work, which will be registered on a fortnightly time sheet supplied by the University. The time sheets will be submitted to the ANU Casual Employment Office for processing after the supervisor has checked and signed the time sheet. A casual employee will generally be paid at the specified base level of the relevant ANU Officer grade, unless the Casual Employment Office is informed otherwise, and will be covered under the University’s Conditions of Employment. The Casual Employment Office will monitor the hours worked each fortnight for each casual employee. If an area (after receiving résumés) cancels a request, an administration fee of $50.00 will be charged. Administrative staff are required to work a 35-hour week or 7 hours per day. Where ordinary duty is performed outside the normal span of working hours (i.e. 8 am to 6 pm Monday to Friday) penalty rates apply in addition to the 25% loading. Overtime is paid for duty performed in excess of 7 hours per day (exclusive of at least a 30-minute break, which must be taken on completion of every 5 hours of continuous work,) and all overtime worked must be authorised by the supervisor. Please note that overtime payments do not attract the 25% loading or penalty rates. Australian National University casual employment is defined by Clause19. of The ANU Enterprise Agreement 2005 - 2009. |
