Information and Workforce Planning

The Information and Workforce Planning Group comprises HR Business Solutions and Workforce Planning and has the following responsibilities:

  • Manages the ANU's HR Management System, ESP HR, and provides helpdesk support and training to system users (currently implementing Oracle/Peoplesoft's version 9.0 HRMS as part of the Campus Solutions Advancement Project) 
  • Supports HR administration at the ANU by providing business solutions for end-to-end processes and aiming to continually improve these processes through the optimal use of information technology
  • Developing ANU workforce planning capability and reference tools by, for example, providing services and high-level policy advice on workforce planning to assist managers to predict and take action in relation to future workforce needs. This includes staff planning, reporting of human resources performance indicators and using benchmarking in order to ensure that we have the necessary number of staff with the required skills and abilities to facilitate the achievement of the University’s strategic goals.
  • Provides high level analysis and reporting of HR issues across the University, especially in relation to Operational Plan reporting and other regular and ad hoc reporting. The Group also provides all statutory reporting.


Much of our work is done in collaboration with HR practitioners and the Division of Information, in particular with Corporate Information Services.
