HR Strategy and Development

HR Strategy and Development Group has three branches, Workplace Strategy Branch, Staff Development Branch, and
Workplace Diversity and Inclusion Branch.

                                                                           
Workplace Strategy Branch consults and collaborates with Colleges and Divisions in the development of HR initiatives, new policies, and programs to support the strategic direction of ANU, including:
  • the development of new policy and procedures, and major reviews of existing policy and procedures, to support strategic initiatives;
  • support to other HR program areas for strategic initiatives and projects;
  • strategic support for remuneration and benefit design and Enterprise Bargaining negotiations;
  • development of strategic models for the classification and remunerationof staff;
  • provision of expert advice to the University Executive and Director-Human Resources on the classification level and remuneration packages of senior staff; and
  • co-ordination of ANU Pulse Online learning modules (Ready4Work, Ready2Manage, and Money101).

Recent projects include: 

  • review/development of HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with the Enterprise Agreement; 
  •  subsidised corporate health cover for ANU staff;
  • finalist in FEMA Branding Awards, for “discover what you can do when you work with the best”; and
  • review of College Staffing Committees.                                                                                                   

Current projects underway:

  • development and consultation on a Child Protection policy and procedure;
  • staff Wellness Week in November 2009;
  • audit of Statements of Expectation (Performance Management Framework);
  • framework for internships at ANU;
  • development of ANU Pulse Online learning site; and
  • framework for staff exchanges and secondments

Workplace Strategy Branch uses the following tools to communicate with ANU staff:

  • Relevant email groups to Deans and Directors, General Managers, and HR operatives
  • What’s New webpage - lists all new/revised policies and procedures
  • Notices on ANU Billboard
  • On Campus articles
