Occupational Health and Safety

The Occupational Health and Safety Branch supports the ANU to be the best in the world, by providing technical, professional advice and assistance to enable and educate ANU staff to create and maintain safe and healthy workplaces, that protect the ANU’s valuable human resources.

When an injury/illness or incident does occur the Occupational Health and Safety Branch responds quickly and efficiently to rehabilitate staff.

What we do

The Occupational Health and Safety Branch provides professional support (both policy and practice) to the University’s OHS Management Plan. The Occupational Health and Safety Branch is staffed by OHS professionals who are available to provide advice to management, staff, students and visitors on:

Prevention through hazard identification, risk assessment and risk control issues, Employee Assistance Program ANU TeamAssist
Compliance matters related to occupational health and safety, environment, gene technology, quarantine, radiation and nuclear non-proliferation legislation
Policy interpretation and procedural, training, inspection and audit requirements of the University’s OHS management plan
Injury management and rehabilitation
