The university is aware is aware that partners of students can feel lonely and isolated when they arrive in Australia. One way to overcome this problem is to become involved in community activities and to participate in the trips organised by the ISS .
The University Partners English Class is just another way to become involved. Participants may bring their children and and as an added benefit to he group organizes casual social events.
There are four childcare centres on the grounds of the ANU, catering for babies, toddlers and pre school children.
A playgroup is an informal gathering of parents and children from babies up to preschoolers. This is an excellent place to meet other parents and make friends in the broader Australian community.
Children who turn 4 before April 30 may attend Pre School for 12 hours a week.
According to the law, all school aged-aged children in Australia, regardless of residential status (that is, temporary or permanent), must enrol at the appropriate school level. Non-Australian permanent resident or citizen may have to pay tuition fees for your child’s compulsory schooling.

Canberra is known as the nations "Bush Capital" over 80% of the Australian Capital territory is a National Park. As a result of this ethos throughout the urban areas of the city there are a large number of parks suitable for children of all ages.
As Canberra is home to the National Cultural Institutions of Australia, there is always something happening!
