Appeals Process for International Students
In accordance with the National Code of Practice for Registration Authorities and Providers of Education and Training to Overseas Students 2007, the ANU must have appropriate internal and external appeals and complaints mechanisms that are easily and immediately accessible and inexpensive for the parties involved.
Internal Processes
The University has a number of internal appeal and complaint processes that are available to you that cover issues ranging from your marks, your international student fees, any disciplinary action taken against you and issues related to your accommodation at an ANU Hall of Residence.
If you have any question regarding the University’s internal appeal and complaint processes the International Education Office and the Dean of Students will be able to assist you with your query.
The ANU Students’ Association (ANUSA) and the ANU Postgraduate Research Student’s Association (PARSA) also provide assistance to students using these processes. They also employ a Legal Officer who provides free legal advice to ANU students. If you would like to arrange an appointment with the ANUSA/PARSA Legal Officer please contact Mr Don Malcolmson at: sa.legal@anu.edu.au or (02) 6125 2444.
If you have exhausted all the internal appeal process available, you may access the Overseas Student Mediation Scheme. The Australian National University has two external agencies available to international students under this Scheme. They are:
