University Partners English Classes
The University Partners English Class is just another way to become involved. Participants may bring their children and and as an added benefit to he group organizes casual social events.
WHEN:
English classes operate two mornings a week during ACT public school terms on Monday and Wednesday 9.30am until 12 noon.
WHERE:
The classes are held in the Friends Meeting House. This is on the corner of Condamine and Bent Streets, Turner.
WHO CAN ATTEND:
The partners and/or families of overseas students who are studying at the Australian National University. The classes are for beginners, intermediate and advanced.
WHO ARE THE TEACHERS:
The English classes co-ordinator is Margo Hodge (Phone Number 6258 7508), and the teachers work on a voluntary basis.
WHAT TO BRING: Please bring a pen/pencil, paper and a dictionary to all classes.
CONTRIBUTIONS: $2.50 a lesson.
CHILDCARE: Childcare is available and free.
LIBRARY:
Join your local library. It is free and you can borrow books, videos, cassettes and CDs to help you with learning English. They also have a wide range of activties for children of all ages!
TRANSPORT:
By car: There are plenty of parking spaces at the Friends Meeting House.
By bus: The ACTION website will provide information about Bus Services. Ask the teacher or a bus driver for further information.
HOW YOU CAN HELP:
- Replace the furniture at the end of a lesson.
- Clean and put away your cup after morning tea.
- Assist with setting up morning tea and leave rooms tidy
