The Australian National University is the only university that reports directly to the Australian government and it was established over 50 years ago to be Australia's research powerhouse and a national and international resource. The ANU Japan Alumni PhD Scholarship
The scholarship is normally awarded for three years and meets tuition for any PhD program plus an annual stipend (presently $A20,007) and certain additional allowances including travel allowances. You will need to have completed the equivalent of an Australian Bachelor degree with First Class Honours or a Master degree which includes research training. You will also need an IELTS score of 6.5 or 230 in Computer-based TOEFL with an Essay score of 4.5 (570 in Paper-based TOEFL with TWE of 4.5).

3. Check the "Other" box at Question 15 and write in "Japan Alumni PhD"
4. Send both forms and all the required documents to:

Annual Rates 2008
Full-time stipend: $20,007
Relocation expenses:
$505 per adult
$255 per child
$1,455 maximum
Travel expenses:
Economy or student concession airfares
Thesis:
$420 for a Masters thesis
$840 for a PhD thesis
Closing Date
The closing date for applications is the last Friday in April. All applications must be posted by that date to be considered for the scholarship. Applications should be sent to the above address by Courier or by registered mail to ensure that the postal date is noted.
