Student Mobility Program (Student Exchange and Study Abroad)

APPLICATIONS FOR SEMESTER 1, 2009 ARE NOW OPEN
If a University has a Student Exchange Agreement with ANU then an application can be made for admission as an Exchange Student. All exchange students must be nominated by the International or Study Abroad Office at their home university. Please note that Exchange applications will only be accepted if we receive a nomination letter from a university which is an Exchange partner in support of the application.
If a University does not have a Student Exchange Agreement with ANU, then an application can be made for admission as a Study Abroad (Direct) student by applying directly to the ANU as a fee paying student or, as a Study Abroad (Sponsored) student. These students pay fees to a Study Abroad Agent or Sponsor organisation.
Successful applicants may enrol for either one or two semesters at ANU with the approval of an applicants home university.

Step 1 – Apply for Admission to ANU as either an Exchange Student or as a Study Abroad Student
Student Exchange applicants:
Student Exchange applicants must be nominated by the partner university. A list of nominated applicants should be emailed to studyabroad.info@anu.edu.au by the exchange student’s home university before students apply online.

Prospective students must select the “Non Award” Academic Career from the drop down list provided and then press: “search”.

Exchange applicants should then select the “1301XNAWD Non-Award Exchange Program” application.

Study Abroad (Direct) applicants:
Study Abroad applicants must attach a letter from their home university approving their Study Abroad application.

Prospective students must select the “Non Award” Academic Career from the drop down list provided and then press: “search”.
Study Abroad (Direct) applicants should then select the “1300XNAWD Non-Award Study Abroad Program” application.
Study Abroad Sponsored applicants:

INFORMATION FOR ALL APPLICANTS
Online course information (http://studyat.anu.edu.au/search) is updated in September-October each year and a downloadable version of the ANU handbook http://www.anu.edu.au/sas/handbook is updated in November each year.
If students are intending to apply in September (before the Handbook is available for 2009) they can refer to the current Online Handbook for 2008, as many of the course entries will indicate if they are to run in the following year.
Applicants should:
· Consult details on the “Study @ ANU” website (http://studyat.anu.edu.au/search).
· Select and provide six courses they wish to undertake;
· Liaise with the academic adviser at their home university about course
selections.

Entry to some graduate courses is limited. Please contact studyabroad.info@anu.edu.au for details.
- Course Approval in your home University
Applicants should ensure before coming to ANU that they will receive credit from their home institution for the proposed courses in order to facilitate the enrolment at ANU. Applicants should have the name and contact details of their home university adviser when they arrive at the ANU.
The following documentation must be submitted with the online application:
- Nomination Letter confirming student’s placement at ANU
- Academic transcript (latest) and current course enrolment (including translation)
- English Language test results (TOEFL or IELTS) if applicable

You are required to provide the original or certified copies of transcripts of Academic Records and English Test Certificate. All copies must be certified according to the instructions found at:

In addition, applicants will have the opportunity to upload additional documentation in support of the application to ANU, or any other relevant material, for example, a request to access the services provided by the ANU Disability Services Unit.

After an application has been approved a Letter of Offer will be sent electronically. It might take up to 15 working days to issue a letter of offer ater an application has been received.
The Letter of Offer will contain two attached documents:
ATTACHMENT 1. Acceptance Declaration which must be completed and returned to ANU by the specified due date;
ATTACHMENT 2. Payment Details to be able to process the Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) on behalf of our incoming students (the preferred method of payment is by credit card).
OSHC details must be returned to ANU with the Acceptance Declaration as a Pdf file to Studyabroad.Info@anu.edu.au
Once the Acceptance Declaration has been received, together with OSHC payment details the payment will be processed.
The ANU will then issue an electronic Confirmation of Enrolment document (eCoE) to the applicant. Please note that it may take up to fifteen (15) days for the eCoE to be issued.
As soon as applicants receive their eCoE they can apply to the nearest Australian Embassy/High Commission for an Australian Student Visa.
Step 2 – Apply for Accommodation via the University Accommodation website
Registration for on campus accommodation for Semester 1 – 2009 opens on the 30th of August 2008. Applicants are encouraged to apply for on campus accommodation at the same time as they apply online for admission as an Exchange/Study Abroad student.
This application is independent of the Student Mobility Program and is managed by University Accommodation.
