Procedure:

Nominations
The University will accept nominations from the supervisor of an eminent staff member, forwarded through the relevant Dean or Director (or in case of nomination of a Dean or Director via the Deputy Vice-Chancellor) to the Senior Academic Promotions Committee (SAPC).

The proposal must include a substantiated case for promotion including details of recognition, the gaining of awards, and any other supporting evidence. Comments from international referees of appropriate distinction should also be provided.

Senior Academic Promotions Committee (SAPC)
The SAPC comprises the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Chair), two members of the Executive nominated by the Vice-Chancellor and the Director, Human Resources.

The SAPC will consider proposals for promotion to ANU Distinguished Professor and Professor, E2, and payment of allowances, seeking further evidence if necessary in order to recommend to the Vice-Chancellor, for approval, those cases deemed worthy of promotion
