ANU by 2010

ANU by 2010 is the five-year strategic plan for ANU, based on what we stand for and what we will be by 2010. How we get there is the basis of the ANU College plans – detailed, incremental and building on the substantial progress made in recent times. Council endorsed ANU by 2010 on 28 July 2006.

A Plan for the Management of Education at ANU 2008

ANU is Australia’s most research-intensive university, with an outstanding international research reputation, attracting many international visitors and engaging in a wide range of collaborative arrangements with universities in Australia and overseas. In education, our undergraduate students and students in postgraduate coursework and research degrees, benefit from the teaching which is embedded in and exploits this research culture.

The University's primary educational objective is to become the university of educational choice for the top students locally, nationally and internationally, by offering a unique range of research-led degree programs through learning environments based on interactive enquiry.

Initiatives

 

New ANU Teaching Enhancement Grants

The Vice-Chancellor has agreed to make funds available to:

  • Enhance the learning experience of students through supporting staff in developing more student centred approaches to their teaching
  • Provide resources for innovative teaching and curriculum development within the ANU; and
  • Enable staff to better position themselves to apply for grants such as those offered by the Australian Learning and Teaching Council.

New travel grants

The Vice-Chancellor has agreed to make funds available to:

  • support visits to the University by academics with exceptional records
  • support travel by recently appointed and/or junior staff to further their ANU careers
  • enable higher degree research students to undertake a period of study at an overseas institution
  • enable coursework students to undertake a semester of study at an overseas institution.
