Advancement Portfolio

The new Advancement portfolio recognises the need to facilitate interaction with our Alumni wherever located, together with community, business, government and funding agencies, foundations and other institutions world-wide.

The Australian National University values the strong relationships it has built up with these groups and individuals over the past sixty years, and appreciates the ways in which these relationships enrich the education and research functions of the University.

Through the establishment of the ANU Endowment for Excellence in 1996, the world-class education and research endeavours of the University are enhanced in a number of ways:

  • Over 500 scholarships, bursaries and prizes are awarded annually to talented undergraduate and postgraduate students.
  • Academic Chairs and Visiting Fellowships are funded across the full range of disciplines at the University.
  • Public lecture series and other community outreach projects are funded.
  • New pieces of research equipment are purchased and research projects supported.

The vision of the ANU Endowment for Excellence is to work together with the national and international community to continue to provide Australia with the best in research, education and innovation.

In 2006 the ANU established a presence in the United States, with the opening of an office within the International Alliance of Research Universities precinct at Yale University.
