Information Portfolio
The primary informational objective of ANU is to develop the information infrastructure necessary to support world-class research, education and administration. This support is delivered by the Division of Information through an enabling information infrastructure and a broad range of targeted information services.
Portfolio leadership is focussed through four strategic areas:
- Scholarly Information (University Libraries, collection management, access, literacy)
- Corporate Information (enterprise systems, web based business solutions and related services)
- Scholarly Technology (course management, learning environments, digital repositories)
- Information Infrastructure (networks, storage, servers, desktop environments, and related services).
Services provided though the Information Portfolio include:
- computational facilities, networks and data repositories that support research at the highest international standards
- building national infrastructure in e-science, digital libraries and access services
- developing information services that support innovation in teaching methods, learning materials, and flexible education processes
- creation of course management systems and learning environments based on access to high quality learning materials and experimental facilities
- consolidation of on-campus information commons and library facilities and associated support services ranked highly among selected comparators
- a digital assets program to manage, preserve and access valued university materials
- the Information Literacy Program
- management of enterprise systems including planning and implementation processes, and their alignment with University priorities
- the information publication framework covering both digital and print media
- leading edge networked communication services with global connectivity from all points on the University’s distributed campus.
